W O W
Get ready: Waste Of Words or Work of Worth. I have found myself looking at something and the only thing I could say was WOW. I still don’t know why I say it, is it because I’m speechless to it being ugly or beautiful?
Look it up: Matthew 3:1-17
Get into it: Picture yourself standing on the bank of the river that day, what would be the words to come out of your mouth? Some would have run away, others fainting in shock and others wondering what’s happening or better still not knowing what happened. What will be the thoughts going through your mind? Do you think it would be something positive or negative? We always look at something different in a negative way, lack of information and ignorance is the biggest social killer.
Just between us: People thought John the Baptist was some made hatter out of hell. He came screaming and yelling at the top of his voice, wearing the strangest of clothing and probably the most unkempt person around at that time. Yet we find that his purpose at the time was one that should have been reserved for a High Priest. Who gave me the authority to label people? I remember that being Adam’s job when God put him in the garden with all the animals. It’s quite easy to take a label and place it on something but would that be a true reflection of what that item is or rather what we want it to be?
Go for it: Do you think God saw good things in and through diversity and difference or that He did it to have a little fun? Nothing around us exists on it’s own. Things are either formed by two or more other things, which, most of the time have no direct commonality. Through or in this difference good things have come forth but where man has intervened chaos and destruction has come for.
Amazing isn’t it…
Get ready: Have you ever picked up a book, and from looking at the cover were able to tell the content of it? I surely have not come across something like that. Most of the time I get caught out thinking I know it all.
Look it up: 1Samuel 16:1-7
Get into it: Amazing how a book with so many pages, stories and lots more does not for one moment place an emphasis on colour. If you could make a cover for the Bible, what would it look like? What complexion would you make the people? There are many pictures that try and depict Jesus and God, is that really what they look like? When you look at a rainbow, have you ever thought what makes it so beautiful, what would it be if it were just one colour?
Just between us: I have learnt the hard and painful way with regards to this. I have wasted lots of time and lost good friends and missed lifetime opportunities. Don’t be fooled, first impressions are not lasting impressions. I have heard that there are many pretty ladies out there until they open their mouths. This also applies to men, con artists of note. How do we avoid being fooled by these people? Information, personal research and yes doing your own homework and not just listening to other people. Titles, packaging and bright colours does not tell you much about the story or the content of the book.
Go for it: Every person has a life story to tell, no person has got to walk on this earth by mistake. God in His infinite wisdom has put each person here for a purpose. Try and make it your duty to know something about a person who previously you thought something bad about. You will be amazed to hear some of the things they have experienced or know.
Diversity is a good thing, because God is too complex to be imagined and or connected to in one way. It is the complexity of faith and our surrender to it that allows us to see how awesome God and creation is.
